Who Charges You — Meta or Wably?
Why WhatsApp automation has two separate bills — Meta's per-message charges and your Wably subscription — and where each one is paid.
Running WhatsApp automation involves two companies, so there are two bills. Keeping them separate in your head avoids most billing confusion.
Bill 1 — Wably subscription#
Your Wably plan pays for the software: chatbots, broadcasts, inbox, AI agents, team logins and integrations. It's a fixed monthly amount based on your plan, billed by Wably (plans are listed on wably.in). GST is added as applicable.
Bill 2 — Meta's WhatsApp charges#
Meta charges for certain messages — mainly template messages (marketing, utility outside the chat window, and authentication). These charges:
- are calculated by Meta, per delivered message, based on the template category and the customer's country;
- are paid to Meta, using the payment method on your WhatsApp Business Account;
- appear in Meta Business Suite → Billing, not in your Wably invoice.
See WhatsApp pricing explained for which messages are free.
Why it's set up this way#
Your WhatsApp Business Account belongs to you, so Meta bills you directly. That keeps your costs transparent — you pay Meta's own rates with no mark-up on messages — and it means you keep your WhatsApp setup even if you ever change software.
If you haven't added a payment method in Meta yet, you can still receive and reply to customer messages, but paid template messages will fail. See Add a payment method.
