Add a Payment Method for WhatsApp Charges
Add a card in Meta Business Suite so Meta can bill your WhatsApp Business Account for paid template messages.
Paid templates (marketing, and utility or authentication outside the chat window) are billed by Meta, so your WhatsApp Business Account needs a payment method. Without one, these messages fail with a payment error.
Steps#
- Open business.facebook.com and select your Business Portfolio.
- Go to Settings → Accounts → WhatsApp accounts and select your account.
- Open Payment settings (or WhatsApp Manager → Account tools → Payment methods).
- Click Add payment method, choose your country and currency, and enter your card or other supported method.
- Save. It may take a few minutes before paid templates start working.
Good to know#
- Meta charges in the currency set on your WhatsApp Business Account. Indian businesses may be moved to INR billing as Meta rolls out local billing.
- Indian cards often need e-mandate / auto-debit enabled for international or recurring charges. If a card is declined, check with your bank or try another card.
- Your invoices and spend appear in Meta Business Suite → Billing & payments, not in Wably. Wably's own invoices are under Control Panel → Billing.
Note
Replying to customers who message you, inside the 24-hour window, doesn't need a payment method under Meta's published rules — so your bot and inbox keep working even before you add one.
