Import Subscribers
Add one subscriber, or bulk-import from a CSV file, a Google Sheet or Google Contacts from Subscriber Manager → Export/Import — with the phone number format that avoids failed imports.
The phone number format#
This trips up most imports. Numbers must include the country code, with no +, spaces, dashes or leading zero:
| ✅ Correct | ❌ Wrong |
|---|---|
919876543210 |
+91 98765 43210, 09876543210, 9876543210 |
Add one subscriber#
- Subscriber Manager → Export/Import → Add a Subscriber.
- Enter the number (format above), name, and optional labels.
- Save.
Bulk import#
Open Subscriber Manager → Export/Import → Import from CSV. The Import Subscribers window lets you import from three sources:
- Choose where they go: select a Label and/or List for everyone being imported, and the Bot (your WhatsApp number).
- Pick one source:
- Upload file (CSV) — download the Sample CSV to see the expected columns.
- Import from Google Sheet — pick a connected sheet, or click + Add Google Sheet.
- Import from Google Contacts — pick a connected Google account.
- Import.
Any extra column in your CSV is saved as a custom field on each subscriber. Add columns like city or last_order and you can use them in broadcasts straight away.
Preparing a CSV#
- Put phone numbers in the first column, plus name and any custom-field columns.
- Format the phone column as Text before typing or pasting numbers.
- Export as CSV (UTF-8).
Excel ruins phone numbers. If a column is formatted as "Number", Excel turns 919876543210 into 9.19877E+11 and the import fails. Always format the column as Text first, or use Google Sheets.
After importing#
Imported contacts haven't messaged you, so there's no open chat window — your first message to them must be an approved template. Start with a small, friendly message and watch your quality rating.
