Create the API key your AI app uses to connect, how the key is kept safe, and how to cut off a connected app.

Create a key#

1. In Wably, open your profile menu → API Developer.
2. Click + Create API key, name it after the app (e.g. Claude), and copy it.
3. Paste it on the Wably connect page when your AI app asks.

How your key is protected#

• When you connect, your app opens https://mcp.wably.in/authorize. Check the address bar — only enter your key on that page.
• Wably checks the key once, then gives your app a sealed sign-in token. The key travels inside that token and is never stored on the Wably MCP server.
• Your app refreshes its sign-in in the background. You'll only be asked again if you remove Wably from the app, or the app stays unused for a year.

Disconnect an app#

In API Developer, Disable or Delete the key that app uses. The app stops working with Wably immediately — reconnect it with a new key if you need it again.
