Setup & Connection
Use the WhatsApp Business App with Wably (Coexistence)
Keep using your existing WhatsApp Business App number on your phone while Wably adds automation — what syncs, what changes, and how to connect it through Embedded Onboarding.
Many businesses already have a WhatsApp Business App number that customers know. Coexistence lets you connect that same number to Wably without losing it from your phone.
What you get#
- Your number keeps working in the WhatsApp Business App on your phone.
- Wably can send broadcasts, run chatbots and AI agents on the same number.
- Recent chat history can be synced into Wably during setup.
- Messages you send from the phone also appear in Wably, and vice versa.
What changes#
- Some Business App features may become limited after connecting (for example, certain broadcast-list and linked-device behaviour). Meta decides these limits and they can change.
- Template and marketing messages are sent from Wably and follow Cloud API rules and pricing.
- You must keep opening the WhatsApp Business App regularly — Meta may disconnect coexistence if the app isn't used for a long period.
Requirements#
- The number is on a recent version of the WhatsApp Business App (not personal WhatsApp)
- The phone with the app is available during setup to scan or approve
- The number is not connected to another provider
Steps#
- Update the WhatsApp Business App on your phone.
- In Wably, open Connect Account → Connect WhatsApp → Connect with Embed Onboarding.
- Log in with Facebook and select your Business Portfolio.
- In Meta's pop-up, choose the option to connect your existing WhatsApp Business App and enter the number.
- WhatsApp on your phone shows a prompt (or a QR code to scan) — approve it.
- Choose whether to share recent chat history, then confirm.
- Test by sending a message to the number from another phone.
Tip
In Bot Settings → General, the switch Bot Replies While Agent on Mobile App decides whether your chatbot keeps replying while someone is chatting from the phone app.
Important
Don't disconnect and reconnect repeatedly to "fix" things — each attempt is logged by Meta. If something looks wrong, email support@wably.in first.
